Flora School Days
Every year for the past 20+ years the Flora School Education Center has been hosting a celebration of the Past! On the 3rd Saturday in June we kick off our annual event to help restore the school back to 1915! Come join us for IN-PERSON Demonstrations, Competitions, Town Tours/School Tours and MORE!
THE BS COMPETITION
7am-1pm Blacksmith teams hammering out "18th Century farm hand tools"
7am to 10am Apprentice works on the project with only talking from the Blacksmith
10am to 1pm Blacksmith takes over the work to finish it out
7am-1:30pm VOTE for your Favorite Blacksmith Team by donating to their Individual DONATION CAN!
DUTCH OVEN LUNCH DRAWING 7am-10am Must be present to win (no expiration date)
DEMONSTRATIONS & MORE 9am-2pm See schedule—some are short duration!
RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY 9:30am Wheelchair ramp
TOWN TOURS with “johnny popper” tractor 10am, 11:30am & 1pm
DUTCH OVEN LUNCH NOON or when the bell rings! Chicken, camp beans, cabbage salad, spoon bread!

DEMONOSTRATIONS & MORE—TENTATIVE SCHEDULE FOR OLD-TIME SKILLS--
9am-2pm
o *Bean bags—make one using an old-time crank machine, then throw it through the clown’s mouth
o *Bee’s wrap with a button and a cookie—wrap up a cookie to take home
o *Blacksmith "Come Make a Hook" -- Don't be shy! Make something to remember us by!
o Book sale (by the book, by the author bundle, by the box your choice, by the mystery box)
o *Branding -- Red hot irons just waiting to be touched to wood or Tandy leather!
o Country Store--ticket sales, arts, crafts, history books and more
o Dutch oven cooking and cleaning—watch your lunch being made! YUMMY!
o *Kitchen Work-- Everything used to taste so much better because of...you guessed it...HARD
WORK! Help make this year’s lunch by grinding grain into flour and churn butter from cream for
the spoon bread!
o Library—Get your own library card by donation! Then, check out a book and enjoy!
o Music-- old time musicians, player piano
o Old-time cars
o Old-time tractors—Wallowa County Museum
o Pottery on a wheel using traditional clay
o Pie Social-- drinks, ice cream and PIE!
o *Rope making—make a chunk of rope!
o Roping Blaze when tour wagon not touring!
o Sewing-- different types of machines, techniques—treadle, crank, modern, hand sewing
o ''What is it?” -- cast your guess at the wonder before you and have the opportunity to win!
o Wood Cookstove -- Watch spoon bread being made for your Dutch oven lunch.
10:30-11:30am Medicinal Fire Cider, Horseshoeing
1-2pm Fire starters—all kinds to make at the wood cookstove / kitchen area
